mhossey Dec 27, 2010 9:37 PM (in response to mhossey)Also I suppose to add "disclaimers" Just type it up in notepad and attach it in the zipped file? BTW does anyone create brushes and sell them? And if you do, do you ever see any actual profit from them or is it more like 1 person buys it every 6 months

Wade_Zimmerman Dec 27, 2010 9:43 PM (in response to mhossey)You just save it as a brush library then you use that as the file.
It is an .ai file with a blank artboard and a library who only contains you selected brushes. You can see any of them in the presets folder in the brushes folder.
Make Money I d not know I think that some people do sell brushes. N reason yu can't try it yourself.

mhossey Dec 27, 2010 10:43 PM (in response to Wade_Zimmerman)awesome, easy enough...is it the same If I want to save them as PS brushes as well, would you be able to explain how to do that?
:: EDIT ::
When I select the brushes I want in my brush set from the brush palette and hit "save brush library" it saves them, but the file itself doesnt have the icon of a brush set it looks like something else.... and when I click to open the file it goest throught this process of asking which program I would like to open it up with

Monika Gause Dec 28, 2010 1:50 AM (in response to mhossey)What does the icon look like? Icons of Photoshop and Illy-brushes don't look the same. For problems like this always state your system and version.
You also can't install brush libraries by double clicking. If you want to achieve that, you'd have to use a oftware that can create installers, like this one: http://www.wise.com/Products/Installations/WiseInstallationStudio.aspx (there are others, also for the Mac)
Normally people know how to install and use brushes. If they don't, they should just dive into the manual.

mhossey Dec 28, 2010 9:25 AM (in response to Monika Gause)im on PC windows xp, and in CS3 here is what the icon looks like....i dont know maybe thats what its supposed to be, but it looks cheezy compared to what I normally see in PS.

I mean I would just like them to be able to take the file that they download and install it by putting the file into their brushes folder in the program files for illustrator (I think that is what It's called) Im still fairly new. I downloaded a brush set yesterday and all I did was just that, and when I opened Illy all I had to do was check the brush library and their was the new set I had just installed...thats all i'm looking to do

Monika Gause Dec 28, 2010 9:33 AM (in response to mhossey)Some people put it into the program folder. Like here: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/747591/using_adobe_illustrator_cs3_installing.htm l
When you save a custom library you can analyze the default folder where Illustrator likes to put libraries. It's in the user folder.

mhossey Dec 28, 2010 9:49 AM (in response to Wade_Zimmerman)I guess im not following....when I put the file above that I showed you into the illustrator program files under presets and under brushes It just says that the file is in an unrecognizable format when I try to open through my brushes palette.....When I open the brushes folders in my program files it shows a seperate .ai file for each different brush....is this what I should do, it seems like it makes more sense than what I'm doing..im so illustrator illiterate its not funny, I cant get the file above to work the way I want

Wade_Zimmerman Dec 28, 2010 10:30 AM (in response to mhossey)Do not post your e-mil send Monika a private message click on her name to do so.
Or, using the camera icon, attach the file using a jpeg extension in place of an .ai extension, it will not actually appear in the message but a question mark icon will, then option or right clicks the question mark you can then choose to download the linked file. Once downloaded changing the extension back to ai will allow you to open the file as a normal .ai file nothing will be missing.
