Source for Good Quality Static Matte Files?

    Jhvegas Community Member

Ok - I admit - I've searched and searched (but maybe I'm not searching for the right thing?).

I'm looking for some good quality static mattes. FreedomFX has what appears to be very nice ones, and I tried to purchase them but the shopping cart is busted.

Here's an idea of what I'm after: http://www.freedomfx.com/html/textured.htm

      Any ideas?

On another thought - I'm an old matrox user, so I tried to grab the matte files from there, but they're tga's converted to an unusable .gfx format - any ideas on how to get them back to usable bitmap form?

I'm willing to pay - I just can't seem to find

In the time it takes to search around you could most likely make them yourself in photoshop.

If you already have good ones in your old system, why not export them off your timeline as just stills (white on black) and use as required?

I agree with Butch; 30 seconds with a white rectangle over a black BKG in PS and the most heinous filters you can get your mitts on will generate as-good-or-better results than those. Filters like Crystallize and Crosshatch will create those sorts of effects in no time, and by applying them as Smart Filters, you can go in and tweak and create a buzillion different looks.

Heck--just grab those thumbnails and blow them up to your destination size. For mattes, they'll work fine.

            (Yes, that's cheating...)

Because a Matte will very likely need to be custom, I cannot imagine that many would exist.

Also, for some rather standard ones, Titler will work well too, with the Shapes available. Just remember to set Stroke to None.

              Good luck,
