I am working on a project with lots of buttons with URL links attached and my project is going so slow to go inbetween slides. Or to make any changes or duplicate a slide.

Any suggestions?

I have a dead line today and am moving so slow.

Welcome to our community

In Captivate 4 I believe things would slow dramatically when you had lots of objects on a slide. I believe the way one improved performance was to hide most or all of the objects on the slide and only reveal what you needed to work on. I'm wondering if this may be your answer for Captivate 5.

Look in the Timeline and you should see a column with a eyeball at the top. Click the eyeball to hide all objects. Click the dot in the column to reveal an individual object.

Other things you may wish to consider are:

  • PC resources. RAM, available hard drive space, etc. The more the better off you will be
  • Location of the project. If you are working on your project while it is on a network drive, move it to your local C drive and performance will likely improve.

Cheers... Rick

If you hide items and you publish the project can the end user see them?

Hi Julie

Yes, the option I mentioned only hides items for the Captivate author's convenience and ease of operation.

I looked up your company on line. Do u do any kind consulting for companies? I am a regional trainer for a adult beverage company. I am currently moving all our on line classes to our new LMS (cornerstone) via captivate 5.

I have no computer background and have been learning cap 5 by trail and error.

I am looking for a resource/consultant that can answer questions and look at the project on occasion to make suggestions.

Is that something your company does and if so how much?

Thanks
