1. Re: Trouble playing DVDs created in Encore on MAC Platform
Bill Hunt Jan 11, 2011 10:32 AM (in response to ycart1299)What brand of blank media are you using?
What burn speed are you using?
On the Mac, when you Burn to Folder, will that Folder (VIDEO_TS w/ the necessary IFO, BUP and VOB files) play in your software player?
Good luck,
Hunt

ycart1299 Jan 11, 2011 12:40 PM (in response to Bill Hunt)Hi Bill, thanks for your quick reply. I am using Memorex DVD+R and writing the image file to DVD at 8x. When attempting to play the video from the TS_video files folder, i encounter the same problems with playback. The DVD that i am having problems with combines both timelines for video and slide shows for PPT slides. Interestingly enough, when i play a DVD with just video, it runs fine on the MAC. Any ideas, or do you need further info? Thanks again!

Bill Hunt Jan 11, 2011 1:12 PM (in response to ycart1299)First, Memorex is about the worst choice of blank media. However, it appears that there is an issue that goes deeper.
Tell us more about those stills (more details, the better, like format, pixel x pixel size, etc.), and whether you used the Encore SlideShow feature.
Good luck,
Hunt

ycart1299 Jan 11, 2011 1:56 PM (in response to Bill Hunt)That seems to be the general consensus from what i am reading, memorex is terrible media! Something else to note, the DVD played fine on two other MACs that were running OSX on 10.6.5 and 10.6.6. the issue is on the machine that is running 10.5.8. Could it just be a compatibility issue with the operating system not being up to date?
BTW, the stills are PPT slides converted to JPGs, and yes i am importing them as slide shows.

5. Re: Trouble playing DVDs created in Encore on MAC Platform
Bill Hunt Jan 12, 2011 10:22 AM (in response to ycart1299)Going back some years, there was a Mac issue with Button Highlights, and one specific OS (or maybe two in a row). I do not recall those OS versions now. Back then, there was a "sticky" on the En Forum main page, but it is now long gone.
Glad that the DVD played on more recent OS's, as that certainly might point to an OS incompatibility.
Good luck,
Hunt
