Bill Hunt Jan 13, 2011 10:56 AM (in response to rowby)Rowby,
I would first add the Levels Effect (not Auto Levels), and then the Highlight & Shadow Effect (take that OFF of Auto), and work with those first. Then, when you have things looking good, you might need a bit of CC.
Good luck,
Hunt

davidbeisner2010 Jan 13, 2011 11:04 AM (in response to rowby)I agree with Bill on the use of Levels and Highlight/Shadow first... You may also want to experiment with a master curves as well, because it looks to me like the bottom image is, perhaps, a little more contrasty than the top one, rather than darker, per se.
Once you've messed with those, then move on to the 3-way color corrector. It's a VERY powerful tool, and can lead you both far astray if you don't know how to use it, and also down a brilliant path if you know what you're doing. If you've got a subscription to www.lynda.com there are plenty of great tutorials on there you can watch. However, the first place I would direct you for a "quick and dirty" is this video, here: http://tv.adobe.com/watch/short-and-suite/basic-use-of-the-3way-color-corrector/
Good luck!

Bill Hunt Jan 13, 2011 11:53 AM (in response to rowby)Rowby,
Please update us on how well it works for you. Also, make note that the Levels and H&S Effects are NOT on Auto - manual only.
Good luck,
Hunt
PS - thanks for identifying the actors as "foxes," as I thought they were weasels...
