Robohelp 8 missing links under sub folders

I'm trying to resolve a problem with Robohelp 8 not displaying all links under the sub folders.

I can physically see the HTML files on the server, but when I try to view the docs from the browser, I'm only seeing a handful, not all.

I check my permission and I have viewing rights to all docs. This is happening to everyone. Any idea what the problem might be?

Welcome to our community

Sorry, but we need more information. Where are you looking? In the project itself from inside RoboHelp or from Windows Explorer looking at the server?

Cheers... Rick

Hi Rick:

I'm viewing the project from inside Robohelp. Take for example the screenshot below. Under the sub folder label 'Call Center', I'm only seeing 8 items, but there should be more here.

My first thought is permission, but they have viewing rights to this project.

Hi there,

Could conditional tags on your TOC items be the culprits ?

Hello again

What you show is the Table of Contents. The TOC is separate from the folders. Perhaps you automatically created the TOC structure at one time and you are now expecting that because you told RoboHelp HTML to auto-create the TOC you are expecting any files you add to a folder to automatically update the TOC? If so, that's what I call a TOC Myth-conception. Auto-creating a TOC is a one time shot where you tell RoboHelp "Go look at my project and build me a TOC based on what you find". From there forward it's up to you to manage it. (or to launch the auto-create TOC feature again and build a fresh TOC).

Hopefully this helps... Rick

We don't use auto TOC feature. We manually build ours...each time we add a file, we also place it in the TOC.

Are the "more" topics under the subfolder "Acquired Loans" (at the bottom of the screenshot)?

Good luck,

Hello again

There is obviously some sort of a breakdown occurring here.

You say the topics are present on the server. In my own mind we need to examine exactly what the process is you are using to get them to the server.

Questions to be answered:

  • When you examine the TOC from inside RoboHelp, do the topics show there?
  • After you generate the WebHelp, do you still see the topics in the TOC?
  • What is the exact process used to copy the files from the output folder to the server?

Cheers... Rick
