1. Re: PS CS5 not displaying file with NVIDIA 3100M GPU acceleration on
Noel Carboni Jan 17, 2011 2:01 PM (in response to nevetssf)If I'm reading you correctly, there are multiple graphics interfaces present in this system?
Hm, I wonder how, with multiple GPUs in the system, Adobe chooses the one to use... I think there's language somewhere that says Adobe just doesn't support multiple GPUs.
Does the situation persist if you boot up while docked?

2. Re: PS CS5 not displaying file with NVIDIA 3100M GPU acceleration on
nevetssf Jan 17, 2011 2:18 PM (in response to Noel Carboni)The magic happens with Optimus, which automatically switches from the embedded to the discrete GPU if an application can make use of it. From Photoshop's point of view, there's only one GPU.
GPU acceleration works fine if I'm using the built-in display, but if I dock and try to use an external monitor my images don't appear.
Thanks for your response!

You didn't answer my question: Does the situation remain the same if you reboot the system then run Photoshop all while docked?Sounds like a driver bug... You might want to eMail nVidia support and/or the people who support the laptop.

4. Re: PS CS5 not displaying file with NVIDIA 3100M GPU acceleration on
nevetssf Jan 18, 2011 12:20 PM (in response to Noel Carboni)Unfortunately, the problem persists if I reboot while docked and then run Photoshop. Images don't appear when I'm using GPU acceleration, but do if I turn it off.
I'll take it up with NVIDIA and Adobe and see what they suggest.
Thanks for your help!

5. Re: PS CS5 not displaying file with NVIDIA 3100M GPU acceleration on
nevetssf Jan 19, 2011 4:09 PM (in response to nevetssf)Fortunately, my problem is solved. NVIDIA released new Verde notebook drivers which fixed some issues with GPU acceleration on the NVS 3100M chip.
Thanks to the forum for your help!
