Bob Dix Photographer Jan 30, 2011 12:20 AM (in response to John T Smith)Sorry John,
Aussie for Operating System
Generally good experience but, for blips with an older version of Premiere Pro 1.5.1 not CS5 which I know will work .
Ps, But, it does work very professionally, with the odd issue.perhaps 1.5.1, is not entirely compatible ? The final product is broadcast quality regardless and the Archive to professional Tape and Blu-Ray very, very good.
Will upgrade in May after major project in, Tasmania, Turkey, Hungary and Greek Islands, will shoot in HDV/mpeg-2 and Canon 5D Mark II h.264 mov as well ,as stills.

Harm Millaard Jan 30, 2011 12:33 AM (in response to Bob Dix Photographer)It will probably install without problems, but to run the program, you likely have to use WinXP compatibility mode.

Bob Dix Photographer Jan 30, 2011 1:26 AM (in response to Harm Millaard)Hi Harm,
Yes it installs Ok but, minor problem after saving project does not always open with all files, but , the saved sequence will open corectly in new Project. very odd..
No Xp on this computer. Oddly Premiere Elements 4 works perfectly , it is only 3-4 years old compared with PP 1.5.1 which was the start of HDV/mpeg-2. I can even Export to Tape and Blu-ray at h.264 and HDV/mpeg-2 using Elements 4, the results are impressive ?

7. Re: I7 Compatibility issue with Premiere Pro 1.5.1 ?
Harm Millaard Jan 30, 2011 6:28 AM (in response to Bob Dix Photographer)Now if your project works, all is good.
BTW, there are more 'older' 32 bit programs that may require the same approach, for instance DVD label print programs. So remember this 'trick'.

Bob Dix Photographer Jan 31, 2011 3:38 PM (in response to Harm Millaard)Hi Harm,
Thought you would like to know that in my i7 64 bit computer Premiere Pro 1.5.1 now recognises it as an XP multi processor, and it works better than ever, I did the Microsoft XP Mode Download about 500MB but, your suggestion of right clicking on the PP exe and ticking Windows XP SP3, worked before that ?
Thanks, also to John

11. Re: I7 Compatibility issue with Premiere Pro 1.5.1 ?
John T Smith Jan 31, 2011 3:54 PM (in response to Bob Dix Photographer)If telling the EXE to run in XP mode completely works... no need to go to the bother of 1st installing the Virtual XP mode, and then uninstalling PP1x from Win7 to be able to install it into the V-XP module

Harm Millaard Jan 31, 2011 4:39 PM (in response to Bob Dix Photographer)Bob,
Great to hear that such a simple solution solved all the issues you had.
Often the problem is where to look for a solution, knowing what steps to take, and that is one of the benefits on a forum like this one, there is usually someone around who has stumbled upon a solution and is willing to share it.
Thanks for sharing your success. Many others may profit from your experience.
PS. Currently, at least in Switzerland and Austria, the snow is hard and icy. Waiting for fresh powder...

Bill Hunt Jan 31, 2011 7:37 PM (in response to John T Smith)John,
Sounds like the storms have gone either above, or below you. Not really a bad thing, unless you are experiencing a drought. Flagstaff has about a 60" base, and is expecting about 15"of fresh powder in the next few days. Three years ago, they had a better base, than anywhere in UT, or CO.
Down in PHX, it has just been cooler, than normal, with a few spotty rain showers. Every drop helps us here in the desert, and every inch of snow in the high country, helps us in the Summer.
Hunt
