ExporterAVI.prm causing freeze after Windows7 upgrade

    ricardo_lacombe Community Member

I have been running Premiere Pro CS4 (Version 4.2.1) on a Windows Vista 32bit machine for some time now with no issues. I have just upgraded to Windows 7 and now having issues with Premiere Pro.

On first attempt to run PP it freezes at the point of "Loading ExporterAVI.prm". Just hangs forever.

If I remove ExporterAVI.prm from the plugins folder, PP loads OK but then wont open many of my projects I have been working on. Most of these feature MPEG clips, so I wonder if removing the ExporterAVI is connected to this. I get the following error on opening a project:

This project contained a sequence that could not be opened. No sequence preview preset file or codec could be associated with this sequence type.

If I start a new project and sequence I seem to be able import any type of file with no issue (mpeg, mov etc).

I have reinstalled the latest ffdshow codecs thinking this may help but to no avail. Anytime the ExporterAVI.prm plugin is in the plugins folder, PP wont load. I have also updated my nVidia card drivers to the latest.

I don't even know if the above two issues are connected at this point, but obviously Windows7 has caused this.

Any help from anyone? I've got projects on the go and this is killing my time!
