DCR-HC90 Dub and Pr Pro Capture Aspect Ratio

I use this older Sony SD "widescreen" mini-DV camcorder to dub old tape format "8mm" videos onto mini-DV from an older camcorder.  That way I can use the firewire on the HC90 to capture in Pr Pro while also having a new archive tape copy.

My question is this.  There is a setting on the HC90 that allows you to shoot and record video in the widescreen format.  I fully understand that option and how to capture video I shoot with that camcorder and edit in Pr Pro.  However when I am dubbing the old 4X3 video onto the HC90, am I going to have a fixed 4X3 recording regardless of the widescreen setting on the HC90?  The widescreen setting does change the LCD display, but it is not clear if it is recording "blank bars" on the sides of the 4X3 image when set to widescreen or if in fact it is just recording a 4X3 image.  Or, does it just "know" I am using the analog video input and defaulting to record in 4X3 regardless of the "wide select" setting.  If I have the option what is the better way to go?  The eventual output will be SD-DVD for display on HD 16X9 TV. Of course will either view letterboxed or stretched...as long as the TV "sees" a 4X3 image.

I guess the Premiere Pro part of the question is can I determine what type of image I am capturing in Pr Pro?

Perhaps I can do a test and do a short clip both ways, with widescreen on and off.  If I then capture those 2 clips in Pr Pro, will I see different resolutions or something different in the project source properties?  Or will it just change a "flag" as to how it is displayed?

      Thanks,
