Willi Adelberger Feb 12, 2011 1:13 AM (in response to Canned Pug)The eyedroper would do it. BUT I would recommend NOT to use it.
Use Paragraph and Character Styles instead. It takes as long to create one paragraph style as you would do with a single paragraph in manual styling. But you can use it anywhere.
NEVER work without Paragraph styles.

The Eyedropper tool is tricky - it's possible to include properties you don't want, and, indeed, it may take some effort to assure that you're not applying unwanted properties.
However, there's currently no way to copy a paragraph or other style - whether it's overridden or not - from one item to another, except with the Eyedropper. One reason for being able to copy a style and paste it is that it can be done without having to use the Styles panel. In some workflows, and for some users, this is simpler and/or more efficient.
[EDIT]
I'm entering a feature request for the ability to copy a style from one item and paste it to another item of the same class - paragraph, character, table, object, and cross-reference format.
[/EDIT]

Willi Adelberger Feb 12, 2011 8:02 AM (in response to Canned Pug)For singel words you can use Character Styles, for whole paragraphs Paragraph Styles and for whole objects (including used paragraph styles) you can use object styles.
Personally I favor very much the use of styles. In the past I could solve sever problems of my clients only with the proper use of styles.
Best regards.

Canned Pug Feb 12, 2011 10:18 AM (in response to peter at knowhowpro)so would you know the answer to another issue I'm having? when needing
to make a change to artwork while in Indesign, and I "go to the link",
and it opens in PS say...I make changes, and I swear it changes nrealy
right away in InDesign without me having to save the file in
photoshop..now I can't do it, the update link is greyed out.
Thoughts?

ALL text has a paragraph style, even if the paragraph is just a single word. Character styles are properly used for isolated text within a larger paragraph that needs to be formatted differntly from the paragraph style.

P Spier Feb 12, 2011 10:58 AM (in response to Canned Pug)Until the file is saved in photoshop it is not updated in ID (wasn't this covered earlier in another thread?). If you use Edit Original, the update happens as soon as you save and return to ID. If you edit the image without using Edit Original, ID recognizes that the image is modified, but does not update until told to do so.
