1. Re: pp 1080p setting is 1440x1080 why would this be ?
Colin Brougham Feb 14, 2011 8:32 AM (in response to David Zeno)That's anamorphic 1080, usually present in things like HDV and XDCAM-HD. It has non-square pixels, specifically a PAR of 1.333. No reason to use this with square pixel/full raster footage like that from your DSLR. Any particular reason you're not using one of the DSLR presets?

davidbeisner2010 Feb 14, 2011 8:43 AM (in response to David Zeno)Drag the clip from the bin to the new item icon below the bin and it will create a sequence for you which will match your footage. If it's still 1440x1080, then something's wrong with the way your footage is being interpreted by Premiere, in which case you'll need to use the "interpret footage" command under the Clip menu to fix it.

JSS1138 Feb 14, 2011 9:37 AM (in response to davidbeisner2010)Or, Premiere Pro is creating the sequence correctly and the footage actually IS 1440 x 1080.

4. Re: pp 1080p setting is 1440x1080 why would this be ?
Colin Brougham Feb 14, 2011 9:40 AM (in response to JSS1138)DSLRs don't shoot anamorphic. Unless the footage is being misinterpreted--which I've never seen with the various flavors of DSLR footage I've used--the 1920x1080 raster is correct.

A nice side-benefit from the forum - questions get asked, questions get answered and readers get to learn something along the way.
Learning is not a destination, but a never-ending path.
