How would that translate to your situation:
a. Get a smallish OS & Programs boot disk, like the Samsung Spinpoint F4 in 320 GB. That is then disk C: in the overview.
b. Use the two 1000 disks in raid0. That would be disk D: in the overview.
3. Use the two 500 disks in raid0. That would be disk E: in the overview.
No need to reboot before export. Saving the project before export is wise however.

***EDIT*** One other thing. Would I get much of a performace boost by upgrading my GPU to a 485 or my CPU to a 950?
