1. Re: strange audio behavior w/new Sony HXR-NX5U AVCHD CAMCORDER
John T Smith Mar 11, 2011 9:05 AM (in response to lisaellensegal)How (step-by-step) are you getting the files from camcorder to PPro?
For my Canon Vixia, I simply use WinExplorer to copy the individual MTS files from SD card to hard drive, and then import into CS5
For other cameras, I have read that required "metadata" is contained in the folder structure, so an entire folder must be copied from camera to computer... often or sometimes using the software that came with the camera, since it is designed to do a "complete" copy

lisaellensegal Mar 11, 2011 9:13 AM (in response to lisaellensegal)OK, I hate when people don't search the forum first - which would be me that I am referring to. The correct answer is:
"If the audio was recorded as Linear PCM, it won't play in Pr. You have to convert the audio before importing it. In the future, use the Dolby Digital AC3 audio option when you record.
-Jeff"
All is perfect when I set my camera's audio to Dolby Digital AC3

Yes I think switching to AC-3 is the only solution for CS4. Apparently the problem is fixed in CS5.

I went from CS3 and a Pentium 4 (doing only SD) to http://forums.adobe.com/thread/652694?tstart=0 for CS5 and AVCHD... and I am happy

TRS_PIO Jul 1, 2011 6:11 AM (in response to John T Smith)Lisa,
I had the same audio issue as you with my new NX5U, so thanks for finding the answer (I wish I'd seen your post a week ago!). May I ask what program you used to convert the LPCM audio into something CS4 would recognize?
Thank you.

lisaellensegal Jul 1, 2011 9:03 AM (in response to TRS_PIO)I also upgraded to CS5. AVCHD does seem happier in this newer version.
Good luck!
Lisa
