I have a new computer and new CS5 Suite. Running Windows 7, x64 version. If I have a file (any type) with edits or without, I cannot save as a PDF unless I preserve PS editing. If I try to save without preserving it brings back "File is open or is in use by another program..." and creates a ~*.tmp file. The .tmp file stays active until I shut down PS (know this because I've tried moving the folder).
I've tried renaming the file, moving to different folders, moving from network to HD, no luck. My only work-around is preserving PS editing on all files. Is this something new with CS5?
Nothing new in CS5, but it would appear that your files are being indexed or W7 is creating thumbnail previews/ icon previews for them. Try to turn off that behavior in the general view settings for Explorer and see if it makes a difference.
Thank you, thank you Mylenium. When I checked the indexing it showed that a 'registered ifilter not found'. Went to Adobe and downloaded the x64 iFilter 9. All seems to working OK.
