ssprengel Mar 16, 2011 11:22 AM (in response to leuallen-BfBe3G)1 - I have a Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical USB and in grid mode a single scroll of the wheel moves almost two grid rows with the thumbnails set to the smallest size.
3 - Are you talking about the switches?
Is your monitor so high resolution that you have 32 rows on your grid and where you can't click on the switch that is 9x13 pixels in size?

leuallen-BfBe3G Mar 16, 2011 2:52 PM (in response to ssprengel)I have Microsoft Optical also. Turn the wheel and you hardly notice the movement. Screen resoultion is 1900x1200 on 26" screen. Using dual monitors, other is 22 inch.
Yep! Those miserable little switches. I nominate them for the top ten UI bloopers of all time.

ssprengel Mar 16, 2011 3:32 PM (in response to leuallen-BfBe3G)If mine works and yours doesn't it's not necessarily Adobe's bug to fix. Do you have a tablet or touchpad or any other pointing device? Do you have an Intellipoint driver installed or something more generic? Mine is generic and works ok. I think with Intellipoint there are/were per-application scroll-wheel settings or something that treated some applications differently, but maybe this was with XP. I am using Win 7, now.
The switches work ok for me on my 1600x1200 CRT. Are you overshooting them? How old are you? Can you see well? I am 50.
What is your Wheel-one-notch-scroll-lines setting? Mine is 3. What is your mouse-speed setting, middle or something more toward the Fast end. Do you have Enhance Precision enabled?

leuallen-BfBe3G Mar 16, 2011 3:51 PM (in response to ssprengel)Yeah, I have plent of stuff attached - Wacom Intuous (pen and mouse), Microsoft Optical with Intellipoint, an aux keypad, and a midi controller. But does not work any better with that stuff gone. I will check my Intellipoint settings. I have played with the Wacom settings for the mouse and it does not make any difference. Neither the Microsoft or Wacom work properly. Yes, you can have both attached and working, just not the Microsoft mouse with the pen or mouse on the tablet. With the pen and Wacom mouse away from the tablet, the MS mouse works well. Everything works fine in other apps.
It's not a matter of the switches not working. It is that they are so damn small you have to be an expert marksman to hit them. I am 70 and have good eyesight and coordination with my glasses. The brain may have sliped but I am still OK on that account. Maybe it is because I use a fairly hi rez screen, but then so do many other LR users.

I get fast scroll with my mouse wheel too.
And what's wrong with the switches? They're plenty big enough to both see and select at will without any difficulty. It never even occurred to me that they might be too small for some people.

leuallen-BfBe3G Mar 16, 2011 6:19 PM (in response to leuallen-BfBe3G)One down! Figured out the scroll problem. I had an AutoHotKeys macro running which interferred. Killed it and all is normal. Will fix macro.
The switches are still too small. I measured - 1/16 by 1/8 inch. That's small - only 1/16 inch square for each button. There is plenty of room to make them larger. Instead of over/under at that size they could be 1/8th square side by side.

I have the same size res on a Dual 26" monitors and never had a problem with them. I also have a 17"laptop screen with the same resolution which means everything on screen is even smaller and I never noticed a problem on that computer either. Is your mouse also a bit flakey with positioning or sensitivity that causes your problem.

leuallen-BfBe3G Mar 16, 2011 8:04 PM (in response to imajez)Both mice have no trouble with sensitivity or positioning. I do precise retouching and have no problem. They are just too small to pick quickly and considering the space available, could be larger.
