Encoding seems longer in CS5 for flv

I recently upgraded to CS5 and have been doing a lot of encoding.  Is it my imagination, or does the encoding take longer than CS4 did for flv files?  I have an HP DV7 running Windows 7 Home Premium, Intel i7 Q720 @ 1.60GHz, 6 gb ram, 64 bit os.  For example, my 8 minute piece (AVCHD) is taking 3 hours to encode to "same as source preset" flv.  I queued up 4 projects, the first was a 1 hour piece that I used one of the smaller web flv presets, the second was a 5 minute HDV piece that I used the "same as souce preset" flv, and the third was the 8 minute piece referenced above.  These 3 files have taken over 10 hours to encode.  Is this typical or normal?  I am not running any other programs except the ones that run in the background.  Any suggestions on how I might speed up the process?  Also, if it has any impact on time, I am using a Glyph external hard drive to house my footage connected via esata.

      Thanks
