My personal preference is to totally avoid using Software
Video Camera. It's way outdated and better options exist. For
example, Captivate! Or if you don't want to or can't afford to buy
it, there are some free or inexpensive options around. I'll post
some links.
SnagIt has an AVI capture tool and costs less than $40
