1. Re: A quick way to move layers from one image to another within the tabbed interface?
Noel Carboni Mar 28, 2011 8:50 AM (in response to kirkr5689)One way that seems to work is to use the Arrange Documents button at the top of the Photoshop main window and tile the documents (or Float in Windows) so you can see them both at once.
Another is to select all and Copy, then make the other image visible and Paste.
What I wish Adobe would do is allow you to drag and hover over a tab, and after a moment bring the image whose tab you're hovering over to the forefront. At that point you could complete the drop operation.

emil emil Mar 28, 2011 8:57 AM (in response to kirkr5689)Select the desired layers in the Layers panel. Right click there and choose Duplicate Layers... In the dialog that opens choose the desired document.

kirkr5689 Mar 28, 2011 11:05 AM (in response to emil emil)Thanks Noel and Emil. Not sure I like this “Dublicate” method.
Right now I would prefer to work old way with each document in it's own window. Is it possible to get rid of tabs at all so the documents windows do not stick to each other automatically?

4. Re: A quick way to move layers from one image to another within the tabbed interface?
MTSTUNER Mar 28, 2011 12:37 PM (in response to kirkr5689)You can move documents between tabs if you drag from the
document window (not the layers panel), by selecting the
move tool and dragging to the target tab (the other image should
become visible) and then drag into the target document window.
(you can use the shift key just as in previous versions of photoshop)
If you want to get rid of the tabs, you can go to Edit>Preferences>
Interface and uncheck the two boxes highlighted below.
