1. Re: Edit Audio dialog box won't open
Captiv8r Apr 1, 2011 9:59 AM (in response to lvholmesuk)Hi there
Try clobbering your preferences file.
Close Captivate
Open Windows Explorer
Navigate to the location below:
C:\Documents and Settings\*YOUR USER NAME HERE*\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe Captivate
Delete the file named captivate_v40.dat
Restart Captivate and see if the problem is solved.
Cheers... Rick

2. Re: Edit Audio dialog box won't open
lvholmesuk Apr 1, 2011 10:11 AM (in response to Captiv8r)Hi Rick
Thanks for the speedy reply!
Alas, that did not work. I am really mystified. I don't get any kind of feedback at all -- nothing happens when I try to access the editor.
The files are pretty big, would that make a difference? I have clips of all sizes, some quite long, and some quite short, but neither will open.
ANy other thoughts??

Sagarika Kengunte Apr 4, 2011 10:53 PM (in response to lvholmesuk)Hi lvholmesuk,
Have you tried creating a new blank project, then importing a small audio file to the slide and launching the 'Edit Audio' dialog? If 'Edit Audio' dialog launches properly in this case, then we know there is some issue specific to the project.

4. Re: Edit Audio dialog box won't open
lvholmesuk Apr 6, 2011 12:19 AM (in response to Sagarika Kengunte)Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, I have the same problem in new projects and existing projects edited successfully on other machines.
I am currently trying some of the patches found on the thread below, but have no success yet. Will post again if one of those works, and would appreciate any other thoughts anyone has.

5. Re: Edit Audio dialog box won't open
Sagarika Kengunte Apr 6, 2011 1:26 AM (in response to lvholmesuk)Hi lvholmesuk,
Can you try this and check if it resolves the issue?
In Command window, go to Adobe Captivate 4 folder and execute these commands -
> regsvr32 NSAudio.dll
>regsvr32 WaveEditCtrl.ocx
After this, launch Captivate and try opening the Edit Audio dialog.
Thanks,
Sagarika

lvholmesuk Jul 22, 2011 1:44 AM (in response to Sagarika Kengunte)After an awful lot of to-ing and fro-ing I eventually discovered that my problem was that I was not an administrator on the machine I was using. Hope this helps someone else with the same issue.
