1. Re: InD CS5 & 'Smart' Caps to Ulc script
Stix Hart Apr 3, 2011 1:56 PM (in response to peterpica)Does this thread and the links there answer it...? If that script that Harbs wrote doesn't work in CS5 you should just be able to put it in a compatibility folder to get it to run, like "Version 6.0 Scripts" without the quotes, and placed in the normal scripts folder.

Harbs. Apr 3, 2011 2:29 PM (in response to peterpica)Are you talking about lowercase or smart title case?
Dave wrote a script that you might be talking about. http://pdsassoc.com/downloads/SmartTitleCase.zip
Style Utilities does this as well (based on style).

peterpica Apr 3, 2011 7:32 PM (in response to Harbs.)Thanks...I tried Dave's script and it didn't work.
Here's the situation: I got an excel file from client; I exported to .txt, bring into InD (CS5) then manually formatted a 'smart style' & applied it to entire text block. I then go into result and run the built in CAPS to lc InD function, then clean up. Do search & replace to make the word ART one size smaller adding a word space while doing so.
Then manully scan & revise any problems with the ulc conversion (letters like 'PRR' in 1st line have to be corrected from the resulting Prr back to PRR. Not a whole heckua lot of work, but there's gotta be an easier way. I do this job 6 times a year and the .xls file is between 300 and 400 lines each time. Attached is the before (top) and after (bottom).

John Hawkinson Apr 4, 2011 8:56 AM (in response to peterpica)If you give a specific example, then someone can fix your problem. If you don't, well, it's complete and total guesswork!

One thing that springs to mind immediately: ... the text was already in lowercase but has All Capitals applied to it. It's even possible to apply All Caps to all capital text -- then no amount of lowercasing it will make it lowercase.
