1. Re: Upgrade Question to CS5 and Acrobat Pro X
BobLevine Dec 18, 2010 9:06 AM (in response to ZenDao)1. CS5 is still shipping with Acrobat 9. Only Adobe knows when this will change or what the upgrade options will be.
2. Student and Teacher versions carry full upgrade rights to commercial versions if you are no longer eligible for student / teacher pricing. You can upgrade from Master Collection to Design Premium using current policy as a guide.
You can buy the S/T version of MC for $879 http://amzn.to/hkDXpz which a great bargain.
Finally note that Acrobat 9 which ships with all CS5 suites and collections is included as a separate installer with its own serial number.

2. Re: Upgrade Question to CS5 and Acrobat Pro X
ZenDao Dec 22, 2010 1:08 PM (in response to BobLevine)That is right. I seem to recall even the first version of CS, Acrobat was a separate installation process. Why is that? It seems like it would make more sense by now to incorporate Acrobat under a single serial number is CS5? Is it for revenue purposes?
Let say I upgraded from the Master Collection to Design Premium. Then later on I want to upgrade the other video related components (e.g. After Effects, Adobe Premiere), what happens then?

3. Re: Upgrade Question to CS5 and Acrobat Pro X
BobLevine Dec 22, 2010 1:14 PM (in response to ZenDao)You're incorrect. CS5 was the first suite not to incorporate Acrobat in the installation process.
Further, you cannot upgrade individual components of the suite. You can go from MC to another suite but that's it...you can't upgrade After Effects in MC CS4 to CS5.

4. Re: Upgrade Question to CS5 and Acrobat Pro X
net_efekt Apr 11, 2011 2:24 AM (in response to BobLevine)I just discovered that Acrobat doesn't come with the bundle. HOWEVER, on the website it clearly states that Acrobat is included!
I'm going to have a word with Trading Standards, believe me!

5. Re: Upgrade Question to CS5 and Acrobat Pro X
Dov Isaacs Apr 11, 2011 2:27 AM (in response to net_efekt)Acrobat 9 Pro was bundled with CS5 although there was a separate installer to run to install Acrobat.
Acrobat X Pro is bundled with CS5.5.

net_efekt Apr 11, 2011 2:43 AM (in response to Dov Isaacs)So you say Dov. But it isn't on the disc received OR in the download I did: DesignPremium_CS5_LS1.dmg
If it says on the website that it's part of the bundle, surely it should be with the bundle instead of making me spend a few hours trying to sort out this issue. What is happening to Adobe? Getting too big and powerful? Quark used to mess people around like this + charge massive fees - so people fled to Adobe. Now you're heading that way too.
Anyway, as I've got someone's attention (could I get a number to call in the UK? Huh!) can you tell me where I can get my copy of Acrobat (Mac version) from? Also, will my licence number work with it ok?

8. Re: Upgrade Question to CS5 and Acrobat Pro X
BobLevine Apr 11, 2011 5:23 AM (in response to net_efekt)As Dov has already pointed out, Acrobat 9 is included in CS5 but as a separate installer with its own serial number.
CS5.5 which was just announced will include Acrobat X.
