Video Thumbnails

Hi all,

OK, I have a website that allows my client to upload images and movie files to document the progress of their projects. My client has asked me if thumbnails could be created for the video file during the upload process like what happens with the normal photos. So the video thumbnails could be displayed inline with the images.but with an icon below it indicating that its a video file.

So my question is. Is there a way of dynamically creating a thumbnail of the video file showing the first frame of the video.

Any help would be fantastic.

What format are the video files and what file extension?
Are you using flash?
If just loaded the movie using Flash and do not play it, the first frame should appear.
Might work for embedding using html also.
Just a thought.

Was a solution ever found for this? I need to do the same thing (show 1 video playing and several additional ones as thumbnails that are clickable to change the one that is currently playing). Files for videos would be in .wmv and .mpeg formats

I use ffmpeg.exe on Windows but it works also on UNIX.
It is a command-line tool.
