WebHelp Output: Book Topics Show "Forbidden - no access to this page error"

Hi

I have generated WebHelp using RH8 and the DHTML > Pure HTML option.

The help is stored on a server and accessed from within our application.

The output works fine on FireFix and Chrome. On IE4, clicking a book topic shows this:

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /<path>/<filename.htm> on this server.

I searched the forum and discovered that there is an issue with HTTPS and IE8. But it seemed that this issue with the TOC and Search not working correctly, so i am not sure it applies to me.

I am at my wit's end and have a deadline as of now. Please HELP

Thanks

Nima

Have you asked IT to check the obvious that the permissions are wrong?

Hi Peter

Thanks for the quick response. Yes, I did and apparently there is no issue with the permissions.

Also, the topics appear correctly for Firefox and Chrome browsers, so it strengthens my feeling that it's the same issue that was raised re TOC and search being an issue with IE8 and HTTPS.

I want to try changing the JS file and hopefully that might just fix the issue.

Am pretty desperate cause it might mean changing the HTML to PDF.

Hello again Nima

Out of idle curiosity, I noticed you also posted this on TechShoret. What you posted there is ever so slightly different than what you posted here.

What I picked up on (maybe) is that you say this only happens under the following conditions?

The browser is IE4

The pages that cause the issue are pages *Linked to a Book*. As in, you click the book and not only does it expand to reveal the pages inside, but the topic panel changes as well to present a topic.

Cheers... Rick

Hi Rick

Yes, the problems are with pages linked to a book. The book expands to show all the topics within, but the topic that should appear shows the Forbidden error

I'll test this one - it didn't even occur to me that it could be a problem with the book link which should have been the first one to check.

Thanks

Many many thanks Rick. Sorry for the delay - of course, it worked - I delinked the book topics. It should have been the first test, but...
