Scott Falkner Apr 14, 2011 8:28 AM (in response to ruthgordy)Change the Document Raster Effect Settings (Effect menu) to use a lower resolution. Talk to the printer to find out the optimal output resolution, then double that (because you are working at 50%). 150 ppi will probably be fine. Actually, since most raster effects, including your drop shadow, rely on blurring, you can probably use an even lower value with no visible loss in quality.

That did it - the final poster only requires 100lpi and I adjusted settings and it worked
