Warning for windows to mac crossgrade

I wanted to share my experiences with moving from Windows to Mac OSX.

I have bought dozens of Adobe products over the year for the Windows OS. I recently upgraded my Dell to a Macbook pro. Last December, I had bought Acrobat Pro for Windows from the Adobe store. I uninstalled this (and deactivated) it from my Dell. When I bought my Macbook Pro, I needed to run bootcamp in order to install Framemaker, which only runs on the Windows partition.

I called Adobe and was told that even though I could run Acrobat Pro for windows on two household computers, I would need to buy a second license in order to run Acrobat on both partitions of my Macbook. I could not crossgrade my Acrobat Pro for windows without losing the Windows version, but fortunately I had several old versions of Acrobat for windows that could be crossgraded to Acrobat Pro for Mac. After around two hours, I successfully ordered Acrobat Pro for MAC. I had to go through tech support and sign some forms to assure that my old version of Acrobat for Windows could not be used and the Adobe store deleted out my old serial number.

Two weeks later, when I had not received the Acrobat Pro for MAC, I went online and discovered they had shipped to a different state and the wrong address. I then discovered that the Adobe store no longer accepts email or message contact. I tried Adobe chat, and they said I needed to phone Adobe directly. The numbers given me were wrong, so the second time around they gave me the number to call for "returns".

The web based system for returns did not work, as it asks for the serial number, which is in a different state.

So I called the number they gave three times. The first time, the hold time was 35 min and it went to after hours, so they hung up.The second time was 20 min the next day and they never answered. The third time was 1 hour 35 min of hold and they said all they could do was refund the original cost, but could not restore the old serial number so that repurchasing would be twice as expensive.

The end result is that they are not refunding, not reshipping or otherwise remedying the situation. I am out over $200 so that just I, on my one computer, could unsuccessfully try to run Acrobat. I am also out a serial number, needed for upgrade, and about a day of my time.

      Beware.
