Why does text change color entering multiple terms?

    jl2000 Community Member

      Hi

      I'm using CS5/Win7.

I'm putting numerous labels on a photo creating a new text layer for each.  I select the text tool, type the word, hold the shift key, move the cursor to the next location on the photo, release the shift key and type the next word.  I do this about 6 times on each photo.

Sometimes, somehow and suddenly, after I move the cursor and type a new word, the text color changes from the foreground to the background color.  I can't figure out what is different about my movements or the position on the photo - or anything.

What would cause this?  What am I doing that is triggering this behavior?

      Thanks,
      JL

I just tried doing just what you described about a dozen times without any color change.

Note that the X key (when not in text editing mode) switches the foreground and background swatch colors...  But you didn't say you're seeing them swap, just that the text is the background color.

Are all your drivers up to date (e.g., your display driver)?

Can you reproduce the problem reliably?  And if so, does Edit - Preference - Performance, disabling OpenGL Drawing, and restarting Photoshop change this?

Noel - thanks for the response.

I've taken extra care to see if I can do it predictably and find I cannot.  I'm going to go with your suggestion that I was touching the x key hard enough to mke the change and call it "solved".

            Thanks again-
