Bill Hunt Apr 16, 2011 7:37 AM (in response to Saad Khan)If the Asset on the upper Video Track has an Alpha Channel, that can be used to do what you want.
If it does not, then you can use Track Matte Keyfing to basically render the black area transparent.
In CS4, you also have Blending Modes on your Video Track, that might be the easiest way to approach this, depending on the exact Asset on the higher Video Track.
Good luck,

Ann Bens Apr 16, 2011 10:02 AM (in response to Saad Khan)You can still use the Luma key, tweak the threshold.

Saad Khan Apr 16, 2011 9:55 PM (in response to Saad Khan)Hey Ann, and Bill,
Thank you so much for your help. That was very helpful. Wow. I never saw those blending modes and I'm sure now, that they can help me a lot with my editing.
Bill, you mentioned that the upper video has an alpha chanel. I was trying to find it. Could you please help me know where it is? Thanks.
Ann, thanks for your advice also. I never played with the threshold before, and now, I have a lot more control.

5. Re: Overlay clip.
Bill Hunt Apr 17, 2011 10:11 AM (in response to Saad Khan)Sorry that I was not clear. Maybe I missed the word "IF" in relation to the Alpha Channel. The Asset would have had to be Exported WITH an Alpha Channel. I apologize for my omission, as it is very important.
Good luck, and I really like Ann's Luma Channel. Not sure why I did not think about it. DUH!!!!

8. Re: Overlay clip.
Saad Khan Apr 19, 2011 5:49 AM (in response to Bill Hunt)My problem has definately been solved. I used the 'screen key'
in CS3. When CS4 came out, there was no longer a screen key, however, when
I used the 'Luma Key', it gave me roughly the same result. Never as good as what the screen key did.
Now, I know that Adobe just moved it into the blending options. So when I select the screen option, it gives me the exact result I want.
