1. Re: Pausing "Media Export" in PP... - After Effects can do this
Bill Hunt Apr 17, 2011 12:08 PM (in response to David Zeno)David,
Just for clarification, do you mean pausing Render, or pausing Export in AME?
Thanks,
Hunt

Ann Bens Apr 17, 2011 2:19 PM (in response to David Zeno)If you like to see a pause button in the direct export make a feature request.
https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
But the whole idea is to get your timeline out in one go but no ability to continue editing.
If you do not want to wait utill PP has finished use AME.

David Zeno Apr 17, 2011 4:20 PM (in response to Bill Hunt)Hi Bill,
oops, I mean pausing the render. You can do this in AE. It's a nice feature.

David Zeno Apr 17, 2011 5:02 PM (in response to Ann Bens)Hi Ann,
I should have clarified more, I meant the actual render, once the time line is rendering.... it would nice to be able to pause it
Dave.

5. Re: Pausing "Media Export" in PP... - After Effects can do this
Colin Brougham Apr 17, 2011 5:26 PM (in response to David Zeno)Just cancel the render; rendering previews doesn't generate a single file, but multiple files. Each rendered video clip and transition is its own media file, so any segments that have been rendered, e.g. are green bar, will remain rendered--at least until you alter a sequence clip.

Bill Hunt Apr 17, 2011 6:04 PM (in response to David Zeno)David,
Thank you for that clarification. Coming from you, I assumed that you DID mean Rendering. Some posters mix up Render and Export.
Colin has pointed out how to "continue" Rendering. As you will observe, the red lines turn green, incrementally. At the worst, you might loose a little bit, of the last segment being Rendered. Colin nailed it.
Good luck,
Hunt

David Zeno Apr 17, 2011 7:49 PM (in response to Bill Hunt)Hi Bill,
Well, now I'm in trouble. I guess I did mean "export" . See, I'm a 3DS Max guy from ages ago, and I grew up with "rendering" scenes, and so I always say "rendering" when in fact PP is "exporting"
I feel a bit embarrased now :-(
My video sequence is ready to go... I go to File --> Export --> Media --> EXPORT.
I always call this "rendering" oops, sorry for the confusion.
In AE, the outputting of frames into a video format, is called "rendering" , 2 different terms but the same outcome is achieved.
Sorry for the confusion.

8. Re: Pausing "Media Export" in PP... - After Effects can do this
jeremy d. Apr 17, 2011 8:06 PM (in response to David Zeno)I go to File --> Export --> Media --> EXPORT.
Then you should go to File --> Export --> Media --> Queue (or is it "add to queue?"), and let the Media Encoder export while you continue work in Premiere. You can also pause the queue during that export.

9. Re: Pausing "Media Export" in PP... - After Effects can do this
David Zeno Apr 17, 2011 8:19 PM (in response to jeremy d.)Unfortunately this isn't what I wanted. I was wondering if you can stop the "output process" ( the EXPORT task ) as in *pausing* it, as you can do with AE.
But.. yes, I understand what you mean, and knew we could do this.Dave
