1. Re: Merge to HDR Produces Black Image
Peter_McC May 10, 2011 12:08 PM (in response to Peter_McC)I have found that this works OK in the 32-bit version of Photoshop. I suppose therefore that it is related to a memory issue.

FlashGodThe2nd May 19, 2011 2:26 AM (in response to Peter_McC)After changing my graphic card from nvidia 9600 (iirc) to 460 gfx I now have the same problem when Gpu acceleration is swiched on (open gl). Noticed the same problem recently with a radeon hd 5670. Running on Windows XP 32 bit and latest CS5 update. Did not find a solution yet.

Noel Carboni May 19, 2011 6:18 AM (in response to FlashGodThe2nd)Probably goes without saying, but with display problems the standard advice is to visit the web site of the maker of the video card and download/install the latest drivers for that hardware.

FlashGodThe2nd May 19, 2011 8:28 AM (in response to Noel Carboni)Of course I had the latest drivers, for the nvida and ati. I thought it was a ati problem but it happend for both cards.

Noel Carboni May 19, 2011 8:34 AM (in response to FlashGodThe2nd)Sorry for the pedestrian questions, but have you double checked that you have the 12.0.4 Photoshop update?
Is there anything special about the files you're providing to Photoshop? What format are they in? How many are there?

6. Re: Merge to HDR Produces Black Image
FlashGodThe2nd May 19, 2011 8:51 AM (in response to Noel Carboni)12.0.4 yes. The files are 3 Canon RAWs. It works when I switch off openGL in Photoshopsettings and it worked with my old nVidia card. Of course I would like to keep the benefits of my new graphic card in Photoshop CS5. Are there any driver settings recomended for GPU support?

7. Re: Merge to HDR Produces Black Image
Noel Carboni May 19, 2011 9:07 AM (in response to FlashGodThe2nd)Something to try on a hunch:
1. Enable OpenGL Drawing again.
2. Click the [Advanced Settings] button and change the OpenGL Mode to Basic.
3. Close and restart Photoshop.
With these settings Photoshop does its display color management in the CPU, but still provides OpenGL functionality.
I'm wondering if your display profile is bad or in some way incompatible with the GPU-resident color-management software that's enabled in Normal or Advanced modes.
