Which transitions are you referring to?

Elements always says Open GL disabled even if your graphics card supports it.

However the latest ATI update catalyst 11.3 is known to have problems with photoshop

so that may carry over to pse9 and it is recommended to install the 11.2 version instead

of 11.3 from the ATI site.

Added: Open GL drawing refers to features available in the full photoshop cs4/cs5 that

use open gl. For example, cs5 has something called animated zoom, where

using the zoom tool creates a smooth zooming of the image in and out instead

of the kind of jerky movement that you might see in elements. As far as i know

elements doesn't have any of those features and so that message is in reference

to the elements program itself and not whether your card is compatible with open gl.

In windows vista and 7, being able to turn on Windows Aero, means your video card

                     is working using open gl.

Thank you for the reply...shoulda been more specific.  The actual problem I noticed is with Organizer.  It is the SlideShow 3D Dissolve Transition I'm talking about.  I am prohibited from selecting it with the message telling me that my graphics card does not support OpenGL.

Is there a way I can enable OpenGL manually?

Your talking about in the pse 9 organizer and the fullscreen mode

              slideshow transition: 3d pixelate?

I guess the organizer uses a few open gl features, i was thinking about the pse 9 editor.

If you updated to the latest driver from ATI 11.3, try reverting back to 11.2

After you get to the page for your system drivers, click on previous drivers

              and then select 11.2.

I believe the problem existed with the previous version of drivers as well.  I updated hoping it would be fixed with the "latest and greatest."

At this point, I am going to stick with what I've got.  So much to explore with editing my photos, the slide show in the Organizer is more of diversion...

I will monitor the ATI/AMD board and the PSE forum watching the OpenGL driver situation.  Maybe Catalyst 11.4 or PSE 9.0.4 will do the trick when they come out

Is there meanwhile perhaps a solution for this issue?

I have the same warning from PSE 9 that my system does not support OpenGL and thus it is not possible to use the transitions PAN & ZOOM or 3D Pixelate.

I have checked it, my system is able to support OpenGL.

But it may be that the OpenGL functions delivered from the video driver manufacturer are intended for GAMES and not for 2D/3D etc. where PSE is looking for?
