Mylenium Apr 25, 2011 10:40 PM (in response to mdubuque)You don't need any layer. Stabilization is always applied to the source layer.

Mathias Möhl Apr 26, 2011 2:37 AM (in response to mdubuque)Here is a tutorial of mine showing how to stabilize using the Mocha tracker (which I would more recommend than using AE's build in tracker)
There is also a German Version of the tutorial (deutsches Tutorial)

mdubuque Apr 26, 2011 6:59 AM (in response to Mathias Möhl)Thanks Mathias,
SUPERB video in many ways! Congratulations!
As a general proposition I am somewhat reluctant to mix third party code with Adobe code. Are there any issues with respect to transcoding, etc. between these two programmes? Does it work natively in H.264?
Sorry about all the questions, but the unknown unknowns can be complex and I'm kind of a risk averse guy.

Mathias Möhl Apr 26, 2011 7:05 AM (in response to mdubuque)Hi Matt,
As Mocha AE is included in AE since CS4, Imagineer and Adobe where quite careful to ensure both programs work well together. With my tool MochaImport the collaboration of both gets even simpler.
Mocha does not work with all formats available in After Effects, but with many. And you are lucky: H.264 is supported natively. :-)

Todd_Kopriva Apr 26, 2011 7:26 AM (in response to mdubuque)As Mathias says, mocha is part of the After Effects package. Here's a page with more information. Mathias's tutorials and utilities in this area are very useful.
