RoboHelp 9.0.0.228/Server 9
WebHelp Pro
RH 9 Server reports indicates that end-users are not finding topics using keywords "kaiser" and "backorder." There are topics that contain these words and the words are actually included in each of the topic titles.
I checked the following:
FYI - project was upgraded from RH x5 to RH 9.
Any suggestions on resolving this issue?
Thank you,
Eva

Hi Eva.
What happens if you search for those keywords when you launch the help via the Web Administrator? If they don't show up there, try generating webhelp output and seeing if they show in that. If they do, I'd delete the output from the server and republish to make sure you have an absolutely clean search database.
If none of this works, can you see if there is some rhyme or reason behind this. For example are all the unfound search terms from one RH project? What other search terms in those projects do work? That sort of thing.

Hi Colum,
Thank you for the response. The keywords are not found when using the Web Adminstrator path; they are found in other outputs. I will try deleting what is on the server & will post the outcome.
The issue only exists within one project, which was upgraded from x5 to RH 9.

I notice that in another post you discovered that you had some missing project files - good catch! It may be worth regenerating this project's output and publishing . Maybe the two problems are connected.

I cleared out any files that were on the server, generated the project, and published again. No success though.
A search for certain words, which do exist in topics, yields no results. So far the words we have experienced the issue with are: kaiser, backorder, silver, & deliver.
The issue is isolated to one project (updgraded from x5) & one output (server URL). Although our RH project was initially missing some files (.ing; .phr, & .syn), the issue still exits after generating/publishing the project once the files were added.
Any other ideas or suggestions regarding this?
Thank you,
Eva

Have you checked that the topics that contain these words are actually on the server? I am wondering if you mean the topics exist in your source files but for some reason they are not in the build?
Can you access one of the affected topics via the TOC or index on the server?

To add to what Peter has said, could you tell us how your Search Settings are setup in the Web Administrator? Maybe your reindexing is not taking place after you have published the output?

Here are the search settings:
It appears we encounter false "no results found" messages regardless of whether the "Reindex documents at Server" option is checked in the Configuration Manager, only the terms with no results found will vary. For example, when the "Reindex" option is checked, then no results are found for the word "date." When the "Reindex" option is unchecked, a search for "date" does yield results.
We tried clearing data on the server and re-publishing, but still no solution.
Any other ideas about what could be going wrong?

As this is limited to one project I wonder if it is an issue with the upgrade from X5. I haven't really got much else to offer apart from rebuilding it into a new project. Trouble is if you import the HTM files you may not solve the problem. Maybe be worth trying with a new project with one / two imported topics.

Good question Peter. The topics can be accessed through the TOC and Index (so they are included in the build), but they can not be accessed through the free-text search.
