Any of you affected by the storms?

I know several of us here live in the southeastern US and I'm wondering if anyone else was affected by the storms?

I'm in Dayton, TN, which is about 25 miles north of Chattanooga and 20 miles west of Cleveland, both places which got hit pretty hard. We didn't have any storm damage here in Dayton, but everyone around us did. I'm a fire-fighter in my spare time, and I was up all night on Wednesday/Thursday going through piles of rubble in nearby communities looking for bodies and survivors. The community where I was working had over 50 destroyed homes and, when I was released from duty on Thursday morning, at least 4 dead and many more still unaccounted for.

In other news, I'll hopefully be back and a little more active soon... the college where I work is releasing a new website in June, and since I do web design and development in addition to media stuff, the college has "loaned" me to the web department, meaning my days have been almost entirely spent doing graphic design for our new site and/or developing code. We've got over 3500 pages which have to be switched to our new design, so it's been a huge process and is far from over. BUT, that should be slowing down for me in the next few weeks so hopefully I'll be able to devote a little more time here during the day. The baby (who's doing great, btw), is keeping me busy in the evenings while I let my wife have a break from taking care of him all day.

My family in MS was unaffected, but they are on the Gulf Coast, so historically make out OK with tornados, but obviously suffer with hurricanes.

The best to all in MS, AL, TN, AS and the rest of the Deep South.

Nothing but rain over here on the West coast (Vancouver WA)

With "virtually everyone" having a video camera inside a cell phone these days, it won't be long before storm video shows up on Youtube

I watched a program last night, about the earthquake/tsuamni in Japan last month... which contained a LOT of video gathered from people there

It was really amazing to see a rushing river of water... on a city street between buildings

As much as we humans do now, nature is still stronger!

Nature, in the form of the giant water snake, sometimes confused with the Loch Ness Monster...has been sited in the watery part of the storm ravaged areas !

This diagram exemplifies the scale ( see lower right for human shape ) and dire seriousness of this snake monster threat recently seen in some parts of the storm ravaged countryside !

we live in the raleigh area of NC..the tornado that hit here was a mile away from our house and then ravaged most

of raleigh and just east and northeast of there. we had to take an amtrak somewhere last week and got to see the devastation..WOW..jus

t like you see on tv..huge trees not just uprooted but huge old trees

snapped in half. houses leveled. tons of roofs gone..just a huge mess.and of course while it was happening

i was outside with the camera as the wife was yelling at me.
