1. Re: Is there a way to do a small and full-screen option when publishing?
Captiv8r May 3, 2011 2:43 PM (in response to jod-zeee)Hi Jo
Captivate doesn't work like Camtasia does. With Camtasia, you record at a larger size, possibly full screen, then when you produce the output you choose the playback size.
Basically, when you create a Captivate project you determine at that time what the optimal playback size should be. And you really don't want to deviate from that if you don't have to. When you produce the output, Captivate will create an HTML page that, along with JavaScript, will specify the playback size. There is no option I'm aware of that you might choose a different playback size when you publish.
You could configure a smaller size by manipulating the code that determines sizing, but anything you do to deviate from the project size will inevitably result in a loss of clarity. The extent will be determined by the difference in size between what you recorded at and what you are playing back at.

2. Re: Is there a way to do a small and full-screen option when publishing?
jod-zeee May 3, 2011 3:11 PM (in response to Captiv8r)A few thoughts ... can I output it as some other video format other than SWF, then upload it to YouTube or something that would take care of it for me? Or can I manipulate the HTML/javascript to make it resizable (I assume I can, but haven't tried it yet).

3. Re: Is there a way to do a small and full-screen option when publishing?
brightonjon May 4, 2011 5:26 AM (in response to jod-zeee)What you're creating is a bitmap image, so any resizing, either larger or smaller, will cause a loss in quality.
If you really need to do this, you could link direct to the .swf file rather than the .html file. The output will then resize to the area of the web browser. You'll lose some Captivate functionality like right click interactions, so give it a good test. And make sure the image quality loss at various sizes is acceptable.
I don't think this is what you're after, but users can force their browsers to show in full screen view (no toolbars etc), usually by pressing F11. It won't resize the content though, and it has to be triggered by the users. You can't force it full screen yourself as developer other than adding directions telling them what to do.

4. Re: Is there a way to do a small and full-screen option when publishing?
Lilybiri May 4, 2011 6:10 AM (in response to jod-zeee)Yes, you could change the HTML-file and set Width/Height to 100% instead of the fixed pixel size. That way the content will resize with the window size, but as already told you will have to cope with a loss of quality.
You can publish directly to F4V format from CP5, if you want to upload to Youtube. But video means: no interactivity!

5. Re: Is there a way to do a small and full-screen option when publishing?
jod-zeee May 5, 2011 5:40 PM (in response to Lilybiri)Thanks for your help. In this case, I do not need interactivity, it's just animated powerpoint text/graphics, voice over, and a video.
I was able to publish as f4v and upload to YouTube, however, the embedded video is choppy and the last few seconds of the project are cut off.
What am I doing wrong? Are there certain parameters I should be using when publishing?
Thank you!
Jo

Vikranth p vivek May 10, 2011 4:43 AM (in response to jod-zeee)Hi Jo,
Is it possible to share that youtube link? Also regarding the last few seconds of the project getting cut off, is it just the audio getting clipped off or is it the whole slide content getting cut off?
Thanks,
Vikranth.

7. Re: Is there a way to do a small and full-screen option when publishing?
jod-zeee May 10, 2011 8:35 AM (in response to Vikranth p vivek)Here's a link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvuoQosbM8Y
The choppy video starts at about 2:45. I tried exporting as a fixed frame rate to see if that would help, but it made it worse (the audio on the slides was a goofy, some slides advanced to quickly, still had the video choppiness, and the end was still a bit cut off). I did not upload that one to YouTube, just viewed it in MediaPlayer.
Regarding it getting cut off - the whole thing just ends prematurely.
The only thing I can think of to do is record FMR of the SWF that works but that seems silly. Publishing to video should be easy, shouldn't it? In version 4, weren't we able to publish to AVI?
Thank you for your help.
-Jo
