1. Re: Opacity Keyframing Questions for Titles
shooternz May 5, 2011 12:39 AM (in response to mdubuque)I would suggest that very few people and then , only rarely, need to use "velocity" in key framing opacity.
Basic key framing of opacity ..yes... but velocity NO.
Velocity is a way of ramping the opacity effect,
FWIW: Opacity in PPro is "busted" ...IMHO ....and needs fixing ...but thats another story.

I find that opacity works fine, but only when editing/exporting in MPE software mode. As soon as I use GPU mode, opacity changes really jerky!

AdamJRead May 5, 2011 5:48 AM (in response to Magnus Allgurén)Hi Magnus
I'm sure this silly bug has been fixed in CS5.5, though I haven't downloaded/tested it yet, so perhaps others who have can comment?
Thanks

5. Re: Opacity Keyframing Questions for Titles
shooternz May 5, 2011 8:45 PM (in response to Ann Bens)My issue with Opacity is that it leaves "Key Frame droppings" automatically as soon as it is "touched".
It does not wait to be asked to set a key frame as per any other key frameable effect. It is a major PITA for anyone using opacity and blending modes and requires vigillance and a lot of "un key framing. (ie picking up the droppings)
I highly doubt that they fixed this in 5.5 but will take a look next time I open it.
My feature requests fail to elicit a reaction from Adobe and others have stated it is un fixeable without breaking something else.
(No one can confirm why it works differently and properly in AEFX for example)

Yep, I've been cleaning up those "droppings" myself. I thought it was me.....

It's not. But do what I did: make an effect preset called "Opacity Keyframe Killah" that is simply the opacity effect with keyframing disabled. Apply to all your clips after a simple Select All. So long, opacity keyframes...
Killah!
If anyone wants it: Opacity Keyframe Killer
