ronzonni Oct 6, 2009 7:22 PM (in response to Wicked Lester)Has this been problem been solved? All my CS4 InDesign documents with Myriad MM and Myriad Pro are getting the same error message. Plus all my fonts now have an Ag icon next to them. These fonts have been in my library folder for years and were fine up to today.
I can't even select the font in the document to change it. I even tried changing the para styles. Nothing seems to work. I deleted the Myriad MM font from my system, but can't replace it in the document. This is maddening!

tuff_gong Oct 23, 2009 11:48 AM (in response to ronzonni)I got this warning on a bulleted list, in a job I got on disc. Under Bullets and Numbering, the Character Style was named “Word Imported List.” So when the file was packaged, I guess ID ignored the font (symbol) used for the bullets. Guess that's why I couldn't replace it.

zubie Mar 1, 2010 12:41 PM (in response to Wicked Lester)I am having this problem too. I can select the font, but I can't change it in the control palette. Checking the box that says "redefinine style" does not work for me. I do not have imported graphics, it is clearly text in the doccument.I have no locked layers. I do not have any oversee text. I can highlight the text and see it is the wrong font, yet I can't change it in the control palette or in the Find Font box where I get this message.
And I just noticed this interesting icon on the top left of the text box. I copied the text into another file to see if I could change the font then, and saw this icon! Anyone know what it means?

This is more than maddening. I am beginning to think I am back in Quark with crazy issues.

P Spier Mar 1, 2010 1:20 PM (in response to zubie)I think that's an icon for an InCopy assignment, which might explain why you can't edit it.

9. Re: Unknown Problem w/ Missing Fonts
BobLevine Mar 1, 2010 1:25 PM (in response to P Spier)Just to be totally accurate, it's an InCopy story.
You can right click the story and choose InCopy > Check Out in order to edit it.

djo8901 Jul 20, 2010 11:09 AM (in response to BobLevine)I am new to InDesign and I am getting this message as well - I tried right clicking and choosing InCopy but I don't have an option for Checking Out. This is a file that was made offsite and I can't determine where the problem is originating from in the document. Should I be looking for something to indicate that this is an InCopy file?
Thanks

Gejaraja Jun 19, 2012 1:23 AM (in response to Adrienne Adams)Hello All,
I am also getting the same error as mentioned in the initial mail:
The selected font is applied to hidden conditional text, or applied to text in a locked story, or is part of a composite font. Some instances of the font may not be found, or may not be changed.
Please suggest what is the actual issue here? I checked and found that while applying one of the font, InDesign is automatically apply other font.
Thanks,
Praveen

Have you tried the suggestions offered above?

wendymill2 Aug 25, 2014 6:09 AM (in response to BobLevine)Hi Bob,
We have a file with the same error... it was introduced by the InCopy user - somehow they've managed to mix font names in InCopy and it's coming up as a missing font. But we've deleted the InCopy stories and it's still there and no way to get rid of it... it doesn't even show where it is in the document... just that it's on a certain page. Redefine style does not work either.
