yep same problem here, was having issues with adobe flash so decided to reinstall it, bad idea, after an hour It's still not downloaded this is pretty pathetic. I know it's nothing to do with my connection as I can download files that are 10MB in a few minutes from other websites and speed tests say my internet speed is what it normally is, so it has to be Adobe's servers and needs to be fixed.
I have same problem here. Dload speed on my PC 340 bites at moment lol. But I just used my laptop and download completed in less than 90 seconds.
I've had virus/malaware problems this weekend that seemed connected in someway to the flash player (hense my uninstall and this download). May seem far fetched but I'm wondering if something is interfering with any connection i make to Adobe downloads.
Busy traffic is no explanation for 340 bites/second.
Anyone have any other ideas?
Well, I see this problem has been bouncing around on this forum since July. It is now December 2010 and - you guessed it - it is doing it to me. It was even slow letting me set up an account to reply on this forum. I tried downloading the file directly from that page that you listed (rather than via Adobe Download Manager), but it is still as slow as molasses - only 24 bytes a second. Whoa, baby! My guess is that it is an Adobe server problem, and that you are actually downloading it from a mirror site (or we are downloading it from a mirror site). I'm in London, England, so maybe I am directed to a European site.
Oh, and I have not installed any anti-virus on my laptop yet - it is a completely clean wipe with Win7. Only thing I have installed if Office 2003, Java, 7Zip, Adobe Reader (I actually got that to download fast - the hangup is downloading the Flash Player). I'm surprised Adobe hasn't fixed this.
Okay, I killed the Flash Player installation and tried putting Adobe Shockwave on - that downloaded in just a few seconds, so it has something to do with their Flash Player download, maybe having to do with where it downloading from, but it's garbage and I'm really surprised that Adobe has not fixed this yet.
Adobe seems to have had so many problems with Flash Player in the last 6 months or a year or so.

No problem if it is for use inside your company. Not sure if it is for the general public (all download sites like Filehippo, Majorgeeks, CNET ultimately redirect to the Adobe download site).

Same problem on my small samsung nc-10 laptop with win xp sp2. Just tried uninstalling flash player because, for some reason
, thie latest autoinstaller didnt install properly, causing my mom's notebook to constantly display the warning information bar every time flash player was in the source of the page.
After trying to find the download on cnet, i was redirected to macromedia homepage, which by the way is TOTALLY not optimised for anything smaller than 1200x800 pixe displays. The main "download" button you have on that fancy new design someone over there thinks is great, is offset and literally took me 10 minutes to find. I clicked on every other "get flash player" button on that page which just leads you back to the same page before i finally noticed the main button in the middle, which looks more like a flash ad than a download link - and i should know I'm a professional web-designer. And so should you, being the biggest supplier of web dev products in recent history.
Finally noticing the button i proceeded with the installation, hey ho, same problem i encountered several moons ago - incredibly slow dowload!

Whats happening over there? Have you all decided to cut costs even though your products get more and more expensive year to year? Replaced those fancy server farms with old skool dialups for delivering the latest flash player, which gets updated every bloody 10 days for absolutely no purpose at all other than to annoy you with those "latest flash player is ready for download" messages (joke)
SOme serious usability issues here boys, better rethink your product delivery strategies. Adobe downloader... wow what a great idea, serve ads down our throat whilst we wait for the neverending flash player download?
Well, i took time to write this out, but i wont take any more time installing flash player on this machine, my mum can live without it now that this whole affair has upset me so much. And im late to see a girl because of you. Shame on you.
I was having the exact same issue, and got fed up with it after reading some of the replies in this topic.
So I tried a proxy website, and it downloaded in seconds, I am from the UK, so there must be a problem, and it ain't my connection.
So, for those having trouble, I have setup a mirror for Adobe Flash Player 10.1, I will also update this mirror when new versions are released.
If this is not allowed, delete this reply and fix your servers.

I do not think that Adobe will allow that; all download sites (including CNET, Majorgeeks, Filehippo, etc.) do not have their own downloads, they all link back to the Adobe download servers. Also, your "mirror" is of no use for those needing the ActiveX installer.
I have flagged your post so that a moderator can have a look at it.
There is nothing wrong with the Adobe download servers; I have again just downloaded all four Windows installers, and each downloaded within one second. And I am at the other side of the Pacific ocean.
But since many of you who posted here seem to be in the UK, maybe there is something wrong with the route between the Adobe servers and the UK. Can some of you issue a traceroute command to find out where the problem lies? Issue one of these commands (from Command Prompt):

We can see that the longest hop is over the Pacific ocean, but it's still very fast. So where does your problem lie?

Definatley slow... started to download the 5.5Mb file, then shortly after started another unrelated download from YouSendIt which is 22Mb. The 22Mb downloaded in about 1 minute but had to 5 more minutes for the flash player to download. So probably Adobes servers/bandwidth are either 1) rubbish, 2) overloaded with so many users or 3) intentionally restricted. Either way it makes Adobe look bad so they should sort it out. Took me a while to register on this forum due to slow page speeds.

Agreed. horrible slow download of updater. starts at reasonable speed then tops out at 4 kb per sec. uk mac and firefox user
Adobe, you are lucky you are a monopoly provider.... downloads from other sites coming in at 50 to 100 times faster...

I have tried from 2 machines in my home to download this, it just simply takes forever.
The machines have Win XP and Win 7 on them, I have BT Internet 8mb broadband.

I have also tried it from one of my works hosted servers. It downloads in a flash (pun intended).

It's 22:22 here in the UK on the 28th March 2011 and I'm being asked to update Flash Player to use with Firefox 3.6. The download is reporting a speed of 1.1kB/second and it has so far managed to download 149 kB in about 15 minutes and it says, probably optimistically, that there are 21 minutes remaining.
There is nothing unusual about this PC and speedtest.net gives me a speed of 4.6 Mb/second. All other downloads are very fast and streaming BBC iplayer works well.
So it must be something to do with the servers at the Adobe end. But what can it be? The fact that there don't seem to be any comments on here from Adobe people and there don't seem to be any solutions after all this time tells you that 1) Adobe just don't care 2)They aren't very good at fixing problems even when they try.
At this point with the download at 158 kB of 2.7 MB, I'm going to give it the chop and cancel the download.
Roll on the time when we don't need flash for video embedded in web pages. When is this supposed to happen?
I'm UK-based and have had the same download problems many others have reported - not just with Flash Player but also with Photoshop Elements trial. But I may have a (simple) solution! Following a tip from an "IT guy" friend, I changed my Region & Language setting (Control Panel/ Clock, Language, and Region/ Region and Language > Formats) to English Language (U.S.). Lo and behold, the download suddenly worked!
It would be interesting to know if this works for others. If so, it seems surprising that Adobe has not spotted this issue itself. Please localise for UK! (we're a small archipelago off Europe...)

I called this in to Adobe UK about ten days ago, and I posted on this thread that I had done so. Adobe never called me back, and my post on this thread has been deleted. Go figure.
I am using alternative PDF reader products and just leaving Flash Player off my customers' computers. Given what has happened in the last 10 days (no response, and removal of my post), I no longer care. Screw these people.
I got up early this morning to finish the task.
Flash player downloaded in a few seconds. I was being told last night that it would have taken over 10 hours if I had persisted.
Bizarre! (Just a thought, could the ISP be putting some sort of constraint on the downloads from Adobe at certain times of the day - but I am not sure why they would do that. Other sites were downloading just fine last night. I am with BT in the UK)

I just tried calling again - called their Uxbridge "Adobe Systems" office at 11am Monday, 9 May 2011 on telephone 020-8606-1100. Recording came on saying the office was closed (???) and that they were only open from 8:30am to 5:30pm. Go figure. But the recording gave me number to call for Technical Support (020-7365-0735). I chose the "For All Other Enquiries". It rang for ten minutes before I finally hung up. I have now sent them a "Bug Report". But this is the last that I will do. Screw these people. I now install alternative PDF readers on customer computers. I just don't have the time to nursemaid Adobe (it's been over six months since this problem was first reported on these forums).
I can understand your frustration.
Unfortunately the alternate PDF reader won't help your customers who need Flash Player - there seems to be no alternative.
Also, I hope that your alternate PDF reader is not Foxit: that one installed spyware on my computer when I tried it a few years ago. There are other alternatives.
I usually just follow the review by the in-house reviewer at Download.com. Yes, I install Foxit. It has 4 stars. It mentions the toolbar and the Ask.com stuff. I just do a manual install instead of an automatic install and un-click that stuff.
If FlashPlayer stalls, I just skip it. I never have a problem with Silverlight.
Adobe obviously has some internal management problems (they've got other well-publicized problems with Flash). I don't know what the internal management problems. I am not invested in the stock - and would not do so - until their internal problems are cleared up.
Had exactly the same problem for the last few updates, downloading painfully slow and in some cases not downloading at all. Turned off Norton anti-virus, tried the download again, it took no time at all. I'm a UK based user too. Give it ago and see if it works for you.

p.s. after checking back on the download page it says, 'You may have to temporarily disable your anti-virus software.' Teach me for not reading things properly!
Maybe your's was a Norton problem, or maybe it was just random chance that it downloaded after you turned Norton off, because that is not the problem that the rest of us are having, i.e. I don't use Norton - I use either AVG or Microsoft Security Essentials, and I never turn my anti-virus off, and sometimes it downloads fine and sometimes it doesn't. Also, this problem seems to be confined to downloaders located in the UK.
P.S.--Adobe never got back to me. I'm not surprised.
Hmm well I'm not sure then, it is a really strange problem, I too have had a fairly inconsistent download speeds, some times fast and others very slow- yesterday was the first time after a few attempts I turned Norton off- but if it's not the same for you guys sorry I couldn't shed any more light on it. But your right it does seem to just be a UK problem. I'll try contacting adobe too, see if they reply to me and I'll keep you posted.
