In the Bounding Box, there is a "handle" in the very middle, that if you click-drag on, you should be able to move the Button.
You should also be able to use the cursor keys (Shift will give you a 5-pixel move, IIRC, so the increment of movement will be greater).
Good luck, and hope that helps,
Hunt

mdubuque May 12, 2011 8:54 AM (in response to Bill Hunt)Thanks Bill...
When I try to click on that middle handle the whole bounding box disappears.... a little frustrating.

mdubuque May 12, 2011 8:55 AM (in response to mdubuque)I'd be more than happy to just manipulate some values on an X-Y grid, but can't seem to find that option either...

Bill Hunt May 12, 2011 9:48 AM (in response to mdubuque)Matt,
My first thought is that you have an I/O issue with your mouse going on. What mouse driver are you using?
If it's either a MS InteliPoint, or Logitec SetPoint, try replacing that with the MS Generic in Windows. However, aren't you on a Mac? If so, I would assume, but do not know for sure, that Apple has a generic mouse driver. Or, maybe see if Apple has a newer mouse driver?
In your Menu Editing Panel, what happens if you click-drag on a corner handle?
If you do a Ctrl+A/Cmd+A (Select All), can you then click-drag on the whole group?
Good luck,
Hunt

5. Re: Grabbing Button Handles in Encore?
mdubuque May 12, 2011 10:17 AM (in response to Bill Hunt)Thanks Bill, my logitech mouse i'm working with on my apple has seemed generally well behaved....
i managed to find a workaround... i centered the whole affair and then inserted some spaces before the first letter to position it on the X-axis where I wanted....
now the whole thing is transcoding and burning to a dvd... so at least the short term challenge is over...
i'll explore your suggestions once this apparently rather lengthy process concludes....
thanks, as always!

Bill Hunt May 12, 2011 7:41 PM (in response to mdubuque)Matt,
Nice to hear that you have a workaround. Still sounds like an I/O issue with your mouse, and most likely, its driver.
I had issues with my Logitec cordless, though not like yours, and just blew away SetPoint, replacing it with the MS Generic. I would assume that Apple has similar.
Going back to the MS InteliPoint drivers (on the PC), it seemed to take MS two versions, to get things fixed. Then, several generations later, same issues, and again, two versions later, things were finally fixed. You may only have to live with a generic driver for a bit, if that is the cause, and Logitec will fix things. Sorry that I know so little about Mac's, and have to interpolate between it, and the PC, and my interpolation might well be totally off.
Good luck,
Hunt
PS - this is back on the PC side of the street, but with many I/O issues, one can do this little dance - go to Device Manager (Apple should have similar), and Delete the mouse. Reboot, and let the OS find the mouse. Then (and on the PC), one is presented with several choices here:
- Choose driver (usually from a drop-down list)
- Insert disc
- Search the Internet
For this, I would "Choose driver," and find a generic on the list, to test.
