I built some webhelp using RoboHelp 8. Unfortunately, the Search panel does not display the Search field, and contains random looking letters and words.
I cannot find any information on how to fix this. Can anyone help?
Thanks.
Hello again
You are seeing the ActiveX warning (otherwise known as the Yellow Information Bar) because you are viewing the content in Microsoft Internet Explorer and you the content is being viewed from your local C drive.
Although WebHelp works when viewed from your local C drive, it's really intended to be viewed from a web server. Once you view it from a web server there is no issue with ActiveX as you are in a different security zone.

Hi there
You need to scrutinize your Single Source Layout recipe. Odds are you have either enabled the Section 508 compliant output or you have opted for "Pure HTML" in the speed optimization settings.

Thank you, Rick it was the Pure HTML setting.
But, even when I set the Webhelp output to DHTML > Pure HTML, I still get the random letters until I enable ActiveX controls at the top of my browser.
Is there any way to have a working search field in the Search panel and not see the random letters regardless of whether ActiveX is enabled?

Thanks, Rick. That sounds much easier than the hacks I was envisioning.

Or you could just enable active content on your local disc: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Allow active content to run in files on My Computer.
This only works for your pc, so this may not be an option if you plan to distribute local WebHelp.
