I have read your documentation and didn't see a solution for us, we have 2 nooks and only one computer, how can Adobe digital Editions keep these separate?

Thanks.

ADE keeps track of each Nook through the unique identifier assigned to it by

B&N when you register them. If the document's permissions are set so that

you have no limits to the number of copies you can make, then you can copy

the document to both Nooks.

There's more - there is always. But I don't know how much technology you

understand, whether you're Windows PC or MAC, and what you're really trying

to do. Reply back, and peel off a couple of the layers if you have more

questions.

I am a PC user, and pretty good with technology. Let me know how to set up

the identifiers or how to look for them in ADE.

Thanks

You register each Nook with B&N when you activate them. B&N writes

information about your user ID onto each one separately. This, along with

the unit's unique identifier (its hardware 'tag) will be used by ADE to keep

track of the unit.

When you have your units registered with B&N, plug them into a USB port one

at a time, and let Windows assign a drive letter, just like a thumb

drive. Then, start ADE. It 'should' recognize that there's a Nook

attached, and show it in the left hand pane of the Library view, underneath

all of the bookshelves. The Nook should show that it's interfaced with ADE

as well. Then, drag and drop the ebook from the ADE Library to the Nook.

Once you've transferred all of the ebooks you want to THAT Nook, shut down

ADE. Make sure that the Nook shows it's processing the updates, and when

it's complete, use Windows 'Safely Remove Hardware' function (the little

icon on the right hand side of the Start bar at the bottom of the screen) to

eject the Nook. Don't turn the Nook off until it's back to its home

display: sometimes it will process data after it's disconnected. Once it's

done, you can shut it off, or start reading the book. It should show up in

the Nook's library.

Repeat the steps above for the other Nook....

Things that can go wrong:

ADE may report that the ebook you want to download a second time is

'authorized to a different user'.

ADE might not recognize one or either Nook.

The Nook might not update properly or completely after you do the drag and

drop.

Everything seems to have worked, but the ebook isn't shown on the Nook in

the library.

We can deal with each of these if or as they occur.

Hope this helps!

In Windows/XP, I found that the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon in the Start bar (Task Bar) did nothing.  My Nook continued to display "USB mode."  Only when I used the "eject" function did the Nook come out of USB mode.  (By "eject" I mean locating the Nook drive in the Windows file management interface --e.g., My Computer, right-clicking the drive, and selecting the "Eject" option.)  Why this should be I don't know, but I found a sentence in the Nook User Guide that explicitly warns everyone to use the "Eject" function and not the "Safely Remove" function to disconnect.  Further, it says if you have installed the microSD card, it will show up as an additional "drive," and you have to use "Eject" for both.

I also use "Safely Remove" just for good measure, but only after the "Eject"(s).

  1. I'm getting the same message (among some other difficulties), but I only have one Nook Color and my Mac is authorized. Perhaps if I can get this one fixed, it will help some of the other stuff. How do I get rid of this message?

I am receiving the message "Document is licensed for a different user account"    I started with ADE and a Borders Kobo reader.  I recently upgraded to a color Nook and brought some books from Barnes and Noble.   Same email address used at Borders and BN to register, same email used to register ADE.   ADE will not load the books purchased at BN from my library there, giving me the above message.   I tried connecting the Nook with the usb and transfering the files, and get the same message.

Do I have to uninstall ADE and reinstall and register to the Nook again to get access to my BN library?     And if I buy from Borders, again, will I have the same problem?
