John T Smith May 26, 2011 8:21 AM (in response to Horsepower0171)In general, Adobe employees and Beta testers are NOT allowed to comment on features until Adobe the company is ready to make an announcement... so it is very unlikely that anyone here will say anything about future plans

Bill Hunt May 26, 2011 8:51 AM (in response to Horsepower0171)PrPro CS5.5 has expanded support for 3D, but am not sure exactly what was implemented, or how it was implemented. Seems that mention of 3D was made in one of Todd's linked articles/blog-spots, when CS5.5 was announced.
In the meantime, if you have not seen the links in this ARTICLE, there might be something of interest.
Good luck,

Bill Hunt May 26, 2011 8:56 AM (in response to Bill Hunt)This TUTORIAL might have some useful info too - or maybe nothing that you do not already know.
Good luck,
Hunt
[Edit] Hm-m, that does not seem to differ from the CS5 tutorial, though came from a link on the CS5.5 page. If it is the same, sorry about that.

No it doesn't. It has no support for 3D. With third-party addons, maybe--but nothing built in.
(Please check facts before posting things like this; it's only going to confuse other people who search for this information.)

Bill Hunt May 26, 2011 9:18 AM (in response to Colin Brougham)Colin,
I was under the impression that CS5.5 had expanded the 3D support. You are saying that it is exactly the same, with NeoScene, as with CS5?
If so, then mea culpa, mea culpa.
BTW - I did check things, prior to posting, though maybe not getting the full picture - see this LINK and look down to "News." So the admonition to "check facts" is totally uncalled for here. Now, a caution to fully understand every aspect of the product page might be called for.
Thanks,
Hunt

Colin Brougham May 26, 2011 9:28 AM (in response to Bill Hunt)Bill,
If you actually looked at the link you're talking about, you would have found that it does not have anything to do with native 3D editing in Premiere Pro CS5.5. I have Premiere Pro CS5.5, and I can tell you as a matter of fact that it does not have 3D editing built-in. You do not have CS5.5, and yet you're telling someone that they can do something that is not the case. So, yeah--I think asking that you check the facts before you post something is completely appropriate. The waters are murky enough around here without intentionally or accidentally spreading misinformation.
Don't you think that if 3D editing was something built into Premiere Pro CS5.5, you'd see a little more hype about it on the product page?

==========
I've seen many here make mistakes about reporting on features of the program, or mistake older version implementations as qualitatively similar to new versions ( again, discovered to be false ). To see two who contribute so much to the forum use language like the above ( Colin ) is in fact the inappropriate aspect of this. You might have said, " I think you are incorrect about the link's overall conclusion" . To imply being "wrong" about a point is spreading misinformation to the detriment of the forum negates the entire premise of the forum .. to help each other ( yes, each contributer ) and to help adobe customers.
Please try to understand that. It's not what you say sometimes, it's how you say it also.

Bill Hunt May 26, 2011 1:26 PM (in response to Colin Brougham)Colin,
When I compared the two links to the feature tutorial, they did seem to be the same for PrPro CS5 & CS5.5, hence my edit to that link.

For After Effects, yes. But 3D features for Premiere Pro are essentially unchanged between Premiere Pro CS5 and Premiere Pro CS5.5.
BTW, to address the issue of "checking the facts" for the Premiere Pro CS5.5 upgrade:
One of the reasons that I tried to include all of the details of the new version in this post was to make checking such facts easier.
I'd hope that people answering questions here are answering based on direct experience for the most part, since answering about features that are different or absent in your version of the software might confuse people.

Thank you for this:

That explains why I did not find the reference that I was looking for, prior to posting my response. Now I know how I got confused.
I had read that post, for maybe the third time prior to posting, but did not find the reference that I was thinking of, related to 3D editing. My assumption was that it was elsewhere - it was - AE.
Appreciated,

SteveHoeg May 26, 2011 4:50 PM (in response to Bill Hunt)Premiere Pro offers no stereo 3D support by itself, but CineForm offers plugins to edit stereo content directly in the timeline. For information specifically on MVC with CineForm see here: http://cineform.blogspot.com/2011/05/mvc-3d-cameras.html
