1. Re: Cutting audio if respondant clicks answer before the audio clip has played in full..
RodWard Jun 9, 2011 6:11 PM (in response to DP_MC)This seems a bit strange. Did you add the audio to the slide itself or to some object on the slide?
Normally, if the audio is added to a given slide it will terminate as soon as you leave that slide to go to the next one.

DP_MC Jun 10, 2011 6:23 AM (in response to RodWard)Many thanks for replying - My apologies I may have confused the issue a little in my post.
Yes I added an audio question to the slide...and audio to the correct display text box. I found on test that if the respondant answers before the audio question is complete, the answer audio triggers off and both audio tracks play. Is there a way to
1) Cut the question audio or
2) Prevent the answer from being triggered until the question is complete.
Ideally it would work if I could delay the submit button appearing before the question is completed but on the question slides there does not seem to be a facility to control this (well I could be missing the answer here. I am under pressure to recommend which package to go for and the Adobe suites just make good sense) - is there a Captivate for Idiots on the market - easy solutions for 'gotcha's)

3. Re: Cutting audio if respondant clicks answer before the audio clip has played in full..
RodWard Jun 10, 2011 8:09 AM (in response to DP_MC)I never use audio on question slides. I find text-based questions work better because people can read faster than they can listen. Thus you avoid the issues you're now having.
If you must have audio for the question, offer it as an optional thing that the user can get by mousing over another rollover object. That way, they'd have to keep their mouse on that object to listen to the entire audio question. As soon as they move their mouse off the object to answer the question the audio will cease, then when the feedback callout appears, they'll hear that audio. This makes it very unlikely you would have two audio tracks playing at the same time.

4. Re: Cutting audio if respondant clicks answer before the audio clip has played in full..
DP_MC Jun 10, 2011 3:02 PM (in response to RodWard)Thank you - this is at least a work around. It was a client request- so consequently I put it in. Because English is a second language in this situation, audio is preferable to reading. I also tried to mask the submit and clear buttons for a specific period but I see that this is not possible as the mask always goes behind the buttons.

5. Re: Cutting audio if respondant clicks answer before the audio clip has played in full..
RodWard Jun 10, 2011 8:25 PM (in response to DP_MC)That's correct. Standard quiz question slide objects are always located on the top levels and cannot therefore be masked out.
