Provided PDFs are well-formed Tagged PDF a web space search engine (such as Google), installed for use on the intranet, could index the PDF content. Appropriate metadata in the PDFs' Document Properties promotes SEO as well.

Alternatively, for PDFs available in network space (not viewed via a browser) Cataloged indices may be used.  Approriately tiered, these provide the mechanism for performing advanced (including Boolean) search.  Acrobat Pro is needed to create a Catalog Index.
