Hi all:
I need to find the way to change the icons in the chm header, specifically I need to remove the "Home" icon.
Anyone know where I should go... [insert joke here]
Thanks

Hi there
You probably need to edit the Window properties.
If for some reason this doesn't seem to work, you may need to define a new window, configure it as desired, then configure the compilation to use the new window.

Hi there
Was adjusting the properties of the existing window sufficient or did you have to define a new one?

Changing properties worked fine - just a matter of knowing where to look.
I'm kinda surprised that RH is into v8 and still has these kinds of issues.
I'm just starting using it again (since v5) for a project and it seems their
own helpfile is as lame as ever. If it weren't for people like you in the
community we'd all be in deep s**t.
Thanks again,

I have a similar issue, but I am trying to change the icons displayed in the output (Search, Index, etc.) into French. Is there a location where I can replace the English images with French ones? I've done it with HTML help by pointing the skin to different images, but can't figure out how to do it with a .CHM file.

Hi there
I'm confused. I'm guessing when you say: I've done it with HTML help by pointing the skin to different images, you are actually saying you have done it in your *WebHelp" because HTML Help is a CHM file.
In a CHM file you have no control over the images. They are either there or not based on the options selected in the Window Properties mentioned earlier in this thread.
The language is typically picked up by the Microsoft HTML Help viewer based on the operating system settings. For example, if the Windows operating system is French, the labels are presented in French. Sometimes you can influence things by changing your regional settings in an English version of Windows, but I think it falls into the "iffy" category as to whether or how well it may work.

Thanks for the quick reply, Captiv8tr. Please excuse my error - you're correct about WebHelp. If the HTML help Viewer displays the images depending on the operating system, then I'm good. I'm using English Windows, so I just assumed the icons were always displayed that way in all languages. Thanks for easing my mind... our French users will be using French Windows, so there shouldn't be a problem.
Thank you,

Hello again
It's my understanding that the images in the CHM toolbar never change based on language. Only the text bits change.
So for example, a print image will still be the same icon, but the word "Print" will be whatever the French (or other language equivalent is) will be presented instead.
Cheers... Rick
