1. Re: .wmv output looks blurry
JSS1138 Jun 17, 2011 9:24 AM (in response to Bucketheadd)In my experience, WMV in simply an inferior codec. If you want the higher quality, just stop using it.

2. Re: .wmv output looks blurry
Bucketheadd Jun 17, 2011 9:29 AM (in response to JSS1138)That’s exactly what I was thinking about bringing up with my employer. Isn't .wmv good in the sense that a lot of people can make use of it.
Is .avi just as compatibile with Media Player.
We send out dozens of different videos to thousands of different potential customers. Some have PCs of different capabilities and others have Macs.
What would be a better format that could serve all those people? Or most of those people I guess. I was thinking .avi and maybe start doing .mov for the Mac users.
Thanks

Why not stick with AVI even for the Mac users? QuickTime Player plays AVI files just fine, and QuickTime Player is on every Mac.

4. Re: .wmv output looks blurry
JSS1138 Jun 17, 2011 1:35 PM (in response to JSS1138)For high cross-compatibility, I'd recommend the older but very well established MPEG2 codec. Pretty much any computer out there will be able to play such a file, no matter what platform or player they have installed. And it's less taxing on older computers that may suffer from playback stutter with the newer H.264 option.

shooternz Jun 17, 2011 2:08 PM (in response to Bucketheadd)Try raising the bitrate to at least 2400 ( go much higher if you want to but file size will increase.).
I actually find the quality of wmv excellent for client review copies of edits and I can create very manageable file sizes.
I have a few presets built via trial and error.

Bucketheadd Jun 17, 2011 2:56 PM (in response to shooternz)Thanks for the input. I have a 7000 bitrate in the queue along with many other formats (crosses fingers)
Thanks again

Bucketheadd Jun 20, 2011 8:46 AM (in response to Bucketheadd)Looks like just checking the "Render at max depth" and "Use max render quality" helped solve this.
