Yes. Right click on the icon of a file you are certain is a PDF, choose Properties. At the right of Opens with, Choose Reader, and check the Use always with this type of file box.

Well, if you cannot save, copy or drag any PDF file to your HD, that's another kind of problem that I do not understand. Can you save, copy or drag other types of files to your HD?

I did drag a pdf to the desktop, but it will not give me the options you described.
I don't think I will be able to get any assistance from Adobe. If anyone else is reading this and has an idea please tell me. I do have Windows 7 64 bit.

That wouldn't be how you do this.
Find a link to a pdf, right-click on the link and choose to save the file. Save it to your desktop THEN you right-click and chose open with...etc.
