How can I fix Adobe Digital Editions from crashing on opening?

I open Adobe Digital Editions it says "Verifying Documents" after a minute or so it crashes. What can I do?

Ain't supposed to do that - and doesn't in a lot of installations.

But let's have more information: What computer system (Windows x or MAC)?

What anti-virus and firewall if you're on a PC? What version of the

software? Did you register with Adobe before downloading the software and

installing it?

All of these factors will be important to answering your question. If

you're a Windows person, then the anti-virus settings could be causing a

problem. If you didn't register with Adobe before installing the software,

you could have problems, and so on.

I'm looking forward to the challenge of this puzzle.

Thanks for the help. Will download epub but not pdf from the local

library. Windows 7 Avast free virus protection, zone alarm firewall. I

would think that if it were a virus protection or firewall issue it

would not download either. Digital Editions is registered or it would

not download the epub and it says registerd.

The pdf book downloads from the library but when it comes into Adobe

Editions I get this message

Sorry, the file you are attempting to open cannot be opened by Digital Editions.

The pub comes in fine.

The message you're getting could be generated because the .pdf format from

the library is not supported. ADE has some limitations on certain .pdf

formats, and you can get more information on that from the FAQ's in ADE's

Help section.
