Here's a demo of a draft version of a customisable popup menu:

Revisiting this one...
So I ended up using the One Sprite Widget http://www.lingoworkshop.com/Codelib/index.php -- specifically the drop own menu part.
The problem is it doesn't work very stable on all Windows machines.
Sometimes it works, sometimes the drop downs don't respond.
Has ANYONE else run into this issue? and/or have a fix?
Or does anyone have any good "drop down menu" replacements.
It's so hard to believe that Director doesn't come with a semi-usable one.
Did you try Buddy Menu? I have found it pretty reliable.
I also recommend Buddy Menu. It is not a standard drop down box, but I have found it to be very reliable. Just make a text member (non-editable), attach an 'on mouseUp' script that that pops up the menu and then populate the text box with the users selection.
