1. Re: Anyone capturing SD video using a firewire card successfully?
Keano66 Jun 27, 2011 3:31 PM (in response to Keano66)Just to add, I plug my camera in using a firewire cable, the PC picks it up, asks me whether I want to use PPro or OnLocation. I choose PPro, press f5, I can control the device from within PPro, but I cannot see any video and NO frames get captured....

John T Smith Jun 27, 2011 3:46 PM (in response to Keano66)IF you have a camera that will shoot HDV, make sure both PPro and camera are set to the appropriate SD mode
If that doesn't work... try one of these instead of PPro
SD capture http://windv.mourek.cz/ or http://www.scenalyzer.com/main.html or http://www.exsate.com/products/dvcapture/
Do note that the demo version of ScenalyzerLive puts a watermark in the files it creates
- I'm told that the OLD version of Scenalyzer is freeware... check the download page for details -

Keano66 Jun 27, 2011 3:57 PM (in response to John T Smith)Thanks for the reply John. I always shoot SD. I tried scenalyzer but no joy. Same thing as happens with PPro ie i can control the device from within the programme but no video is showing. However, with scenalyzer, it did say that 'ScLive has not received any video from the driver'. All the drivers are there in the Device manager...I am not sure what drivers this alludes to.

Bill Hunt Jun 27, 2011 4:53 PM (in response to Keano66)I think that you might be too far along with the FW connection, as I am not sure that you would get device control, but take a look at this ARTICLE, as there are some driver issues with FW and Win7-64.
Good luck,
Hunt

5. Re: Anyone capturing SD video using a firewire card successfully?
Stanley Arthur Jun 27, 2011 5:05 PM (in response to Keano66)No I have not. I have captured HDV with a JVC BR-HD50, though no macine control (JVC and Windows 7 do not play nicely together and no help is coming). I did it by starting the tape locally on the player, the clicking [REC] in the capture window. The same did not work for DV, though.
Thank goodness I'm shooting DSLR now. Whew.
